More Baby Food

It was Monday that I first attempted to feed Rachel anything other than formula or cereal. Both Tuesday and Wednesday Jeff was in charge of Rachel’s dinner, so you will have to talk to him about any feeding observations he had. Tonight (Thursday) I fed Rachel her dinner again. This time I mixed the squash with cereal. I don’t know if that is legal or not, but Rachel did eat it better, although I wouldn’t describe her approach as particularly enthusiastic, but it was more successful. She did join the “Clean Plate” club that my parents were so fond of. I’m not sure if I got more food down her outside or her inside, but at least the bowl was empty when I finished.

Back in the olden days, when Rachel just consumed formula, her feeding only took 10 minutes at most. Tonight, however, it took over 40 minutes to finish her dinner.

  1. I don’t know about you mixing squash with cereal Noelle. I’m sure the cereal police will be at your door in no time. Actually, I found that my children enjoyed new food more when I mixed it with cereal at first. Rachel sure is a cutie!! It’s kinda nice to get the babies on solids, but you wonder how worth it all the work and effort is when it is time to change the diaper…

  2. Feeding a kid food instead of bottles is insanely time consuming. I used to dread it when I was on my 5th-6th kid–where was I supposed to fit it in. Now, they can eat anything in lightning speed. And they all ate cereal mixed with veggies, and look how they turned out. . . on second thought, just ignore that last comment. 🙂

  3. I always mixed baby jars with the cereal. But I learned that the thicker I made it the easier (and cleaner) it was to feed the baby. Sure they had a harder time swallowing the food, but not only did I get more in their tummies, but my job was easier:)
