We came to spend the week of Memorial Day with Jeff’s family at the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina. We are having lots of fun. So far the weather has been great. Generally in the high 70s or low 80s. It has been pretty windy.
Rachel seems to really like the beach. She sat down in the sand and started eating it almost right away. I personally found it to be a bit gritty, but she didn’t seem to mind it at all.
We walked out into the surf a little, and Rachel had the good sense to hang on tight, and grunted quite a bit to keep the ocean in its place.
We sat down right at the edge where most of the waves didn’t get us, only the biggest ones did. Rachel would startle a little, but seemed to have fun.
Jeff and Jarrod found a sting ray (or is it a manna ray?) and we took some pictures of it. Then they took it back out to sea and set it free. I kind of think it wasn’t in the best of health to begin with, so who knows where it is, or what its condition now.
I saw a dolphin, but it was too quick and I didn’t get a picture. I really saw it, though, even if you don’t believe me.
that poor sting ray, it looks so ickish! What a fun vacation. Did you get sunburned? that pic of Rache, you and Jeff is adorable. You need to make it big and put it on your wall! Good times! all we did was have a bbq in the rain.
What makes you think that stingray isn’t in good condition?? It looks the epitome of health. Heh-heh. 🙂
Love the seashell picture! Priceless!
I believe that you saw a dolphin. What a fun trip!
I think I prefer Rachel’s way of dealing with sand! I seem to get it in awkward and uncomfortable places. Hmm, seems to me that eating the sand would be an improvement!
Rachel looks right at home at the beach–and I must admit I am VERY jealous. Next time, I think you should take me with you, and I will teach her how to body surf!!!
Missing you.
poor sting/manta ray…
glad rachel and you guys got to enjoy some time in the sun. i envy you!!!
looks like you had a great time! that’s pretty cool you found that thing, I would have been afraid it would get me! Rachel looks great in shells, good thing you kept her modest w/ a shirt underneath!
I believe you. When I was at Newport beach last spring I saw several whales swimming past the pier. Our group didn’t believe me so they didn’t come see, so I saw them with scruffy fisherman. Noelle’s Cuz Cindy

It was fun to see all the new pictures. I am happy for you to be able to be sealed as a family. That was a lovely dress!
Okay, Miss “I never get comments.” You are the popular one now!!
I’m jealous that Rachel has gone to a beach. We have not taken our kids to one yet and they are BUGGING us to no end to do it. I think for fall break this year.
You guys looked like you had a lot of fun. Way to get a way.
