Just a quick note. I saw a great quote today that is attributed to a “John Stuart Mill.” He’s a British philosopher, economist, etc.
War is an ugly thing. But not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. -emphasis mine
Yes, war is wretched and horrible. But those who would try to usurp power and force us to do what they want are even more wretched and horrible. Talk and discussion are always the first attempt, then show of force, then force. Those who do not understand that a line must be drawn, and, when crossed, must be enforced, either have no children or no understanding. There are absolutes, rights and wrongs, and freedoms that all people deserve.
This is a great post, I liked your blog and added your feed.
