It has been a very full weekend. Holly came to visit. She arrived a little after midnight on Friday night (or Saturday morning – take your pick). Then we stayed up and chatted until after 3:00 a.m. I was able to sleep in a bit, that was nice.
Jeff made blueberry waffles, and I made bacon for breakfast. It was quite yummy. Holly, Rachel and I went to my rehearsal for my barbershop chorus (Pride of Kentucky). Later that afternoon my chorus went to Louisville Slugger Field to sing the national anthem before the baseball game. Jeff was able to come to hear us sing.
After that we all went to the Renaissance Fun Park where Jeff’s dad and brother’s office had an employee family party. We got there late, so we didn’t get to play laser tag, but we watched it a bit. We did get to race on the go karts, and played miniature golf. I don’t want to brag, but I don’t think I came in dead last in either one. When we got home Holly and Jeff did some work on Holly’s power point presentation for her lecture for the class she is teaching. Jeff taught Holly how to embed audio files into her power point. I am going to be made famous because Holly recorded me playing my accordion (yes, I said my accordion), and included that into her presentation.
Holly’s plane was set to leave at 5:40 a.m. Sunday morning, so I dozed on the couch so that I could wake up in time to get her to the airport. We left at about 4:00 a.m., and I dropped Holly off at the terminal for departing flights and went home.
I got home and was getting into bed when I heard a weird pulsing buzzing coming from TV. I couldn’t find the source of it, so I ignored it. It stopped pretty quickly, but then it started again. I ignored it and was climbing into bed when it started again. This time I got up and walked over to the TV to investigate it further. It was my cell phone. I had turned it to vibrate during my rehearsal so that it would not interrupt anything, but hadn’t turned it back to normal. It was Holly calling. Turns out her flight was not Sunday at 5:40 a.m., but rather Monday at 5:40 a.m. So I got back into my car and picked her up from the airport again.
Luckily church does not start until 1:00 p.m., so we were able to sleep in a little. I made Mexican omelets. They were delicious, thank you very much. After church we went to Jeff’s grandparents house for dinner, and Holly regaled the crowd with her violin. It was a lot of fun.
Holly had not planned on being here on Sunday, so she had not brought a dress, so I loaned her one of mine. So the dress she is wearing is one that I made. That is the ONLY one I have ever made, or ever will make for that matter, but why blog if I can’t brag a little.
When we got home Holly cleaned Rachel’s room for me. Not an easy task. She told me she wasn’t judging me by cleaning, but I don’t really care. I have no pride. Judge away. My house is cleaner. Thanks Holly, you did a great job on her room.
I dozed on the sofa again to make sure that I would wake up on time to get Holly to the airport. I really don’t know how I do it, but I am pretty good at waking up when I need to without any outside aid. So I dropped Holly off at the airport again this morning. Now I’m pretty tired, but Rachel just went down for a nap, and I think I’ll join her.
I really enjoyed Holly’s visit. It was worth all of the setbacks. I think I won’t go back to the airport anytime soon, though.
And here are a couple of pictures of Rachel from this past weekend.
Rachel climbing on her kitchen. Not really safe, but this is Rachel to a T (or to an R – whatever).
I have loved reading about the trip from both sides. Sounds like a great time! I’m with you – I have no pride about other people cleaning my house. At least then it is clean, right? Aren’t sisters great? Beautiful dress, by the way.
Bravo on your dress making skills. Sewing dresses for little girls is easier than sewing dresses for women. And HOORAY for visits from sisters!
Those are cute pics of you and Holly. You are a good sister. That is funny. I bet Holly loved little Ray-Ray! Sounds like a fun filled weekend! Glad she could come visit you!

What a great story! I have no pride when it comes to others cleaning for me. No guilt either! I’m glad Holly finally made it to see you and meet cute little Rachel!
oh, and by the way, the Pride of Kentucky sounded great!
Noelle
I am on line for a few glad your sister and you had a great time miss
I would have loved to have heard your chorus at the Slugger Field. Did they get you all gussied up for this one with performance makeup and everything? I really DO want to see that sometime.
Traci,
We didn’t get the full make-up thing going. I only put on lipstick, which is enough in my opinion.
We are having a concert – full costume and make-up – on October 18. The cost is $15. That’s not a bad price for the opportunity to mock me.
Oh, how I wish I could be there! I’d love to see you in makeup!!!
