Rachel being Rachel

Here’s Rachel in her new (used) rocking chair that I bought at a yard sale. She loves it and I love it. She is engrossed in Baby Signing Time at the moment.

Yesterday I went to yoga, then stayed and taught a piano lesson. Rachel fell asleep in the car on the way home (as I knew she would), and stayed asleep once we got home and I put her in her crib, but she woke up about 20 minutes later. That was NOT enough of a nap, and she woke up very grumpy. She whined and cried about anything and everything, so I went upstairs and got her doggy and her pacifier and she immediately settled down and took another 45 minute nap on the floor. I enjoyed it immensely.

A couple of days ago I was getting Rachel ready for bed. I put her on the floor and went out of the room for something or other. When I came back I found Rachel had crawled under her crib (to retrieve a pacifier). I thought she was pretty cute as she tried to get out.

Rachel loves playing at my computer. In this picture she is standing on top of the keyboard (I leave in on the floor so she can reach it better) so she can reach more stuff on my desk, which she then in turn throws on the floor.
This afternoon Rachel’s nap schedule was a little messed up again. After lunch Rachel and I went to someone’s house to tune their piano. After a while, Rachel fell asleep in the lady’s arms. She only slept for 15 minutes or so, and that was just enough to refresh her for the rest of the afternoon, but not enough to last her until bed time. When Jeff got home from work at around 6:00, he was holding her, and she fell asleep in his arms. I (once again) got her little doggy, and laid her down on a cushion, and she took a nice long nap.We had to wake Rachel up to feed her dinner. I made spaghetti. Rachel was still pretty sleepy when she sat down to eat. She immediately picked up the spaghetti with her hands and rubbed them together, then rubbed her eyes. (She was still sleepy after all.) Then she squeezed it into her hair. This picture just about says it all.
So after dinner we hopped in the bath and cleaned her all up for bed time.
Here’s a little makeshift baby gate that I made a couple of weeks ago to block the stairs going up.Here is how well it works now.

  1. I love the picture of Rachel in the bath. What a cute face. The one with her face messy from food reminds me of Jonas… only he’s been covered in vomit most the week! Poor kiddo’s sicker than sick.

  2. Oh my gosh! She is an absolute doll. The pics of her with spaghetti all over her face are priceless. But I absolutely love the video of her making it past the barricade in front of the stairs. You almost had her, but then the blue “door” opened. That cracked me up! Thanks for sharing. I needed a laugh!

  3. That was a seriously a cute post. I forgot how busy they are at that age. Meg was the same with the passy. She would do ANYTHING to get one that we “thought” might be out of reach.
